This post is a bit delayed, but March has been crazy. I can’t wait for this month to finally be over! Anyways, February’s theme was traveling, and outside of a weekend getaway to Michigan, I really didn’t actually travel anywhere. But it was my birthday last month, so it was time for another bout of depression and thinking about all I haven’t accomplished yet. I just always feel like I should be further in life. But I guess that’s what friends are for…to offer a little perspective and help you see the things you have accomplished.
Something my friend Christine mentioned on her blog also helped:
“In Shauna Niequist’s book Bittersweet she talks about the concept of giving yourself ten years (after college graduation) to really know what it is that you’re doing with your life. It seems silly to think you’d have your whole life figured out by the time you graduate college and then just live life on autopilot.”
I guess in the grand scheme of things, it’s not rational (not that I’ve ever claimed to be rational) to have things figured out right after college, or in the years immediately following. So I’m going to try and be a little more optimistic this next year, because my next birthday is the big 3-0 and I think we all know to expect a third-of-my-life crisis big time next February.
