Happy belated Easter! Well, it’s still Orthodox Easter this weekend, so I’m not that late. Sadly, this was the first year I didn’t paint eggs and we didn’t go to church to get our baskets blessed. So according to my brother, that means my Chreaster status has been revoked.
Nevertheless, we had a nice family brunch on Sunday, despite the fact I haven’t been able to eat anything normal for two weeks because of this stomach bug I can’t shake(I’ll spare you the details). The table was full of my Polish deli faves… ogorki kiszone (pickles), pasztet (pate), kabanos (dried sausage), beets, hams, a Polish cheese and eggs.
We don’t have a huge family in the US (or elsewhere) so it was great to welcome our extended family – my brother’s wife and her family. Not to mention baby Kubalski, who’s due in May! (Now the pressure is off me, right?)
And who could have asked for a more gorgeous spring day to get together! If it weren’t for Othello’s tendency to munch on any plants or flowers I bring into the house, I’d have flowers on my table every day of the year.
