June marked the fifth annual Night Heist gala at the Art Institute, and it was such a blast helping plan it with the Evening Associates board (follow us on Facebook for all our events!). This year’s featured exhibit was Charles Ray: Sculpture, 1997-2014. His massive and intricate aluminum and steel sculptures were the perfect backdrop for the party of the summer.
Since the evening’s suggested dress code was black, white and metallic, I was finally able to debut a dress I bought from Akira almost two years ago and thought I’d never have occasion to wear.
The sold-out event featured silver-painted models and the city’s top mixologists. I was thrilled to bring out my art-loving and socializing friends to experience the evening with me. And of course, my mom and her friend!

My mom couldn’t resist messing with one of the body-painted models on site:
If you missed the gala, you can still see the Charles Ray exhibit at the next After Dark event taking place in the Modern Wing of the Art Institute on Friday, August 21 from 9 pm to midnight.
